SUSTEXNET Objective

SUSTEXNET is aimed at the establishment of a cooperation network among main textile agents across the Mediterranean basin to increase the competitiveness and sustainability in the whole textile sector. The difference on the environmental treatment and impact of textile processes between different countries is an important aspect to take into consideration, representing the main objective of SUSTEXNET.

The concept of environmental sustainability and contamination reduction does not affect exclusively the productive process strictly speaking, but contemplates a wide range of dimensions, such as: sustainable conception of the product (Eco-design), optimization of native natural resources and transformation in textile raw materials, optimization of energy efficiency during all the textile processes, implementation of green logistics and revalorization of industrial wastes (effluents or solid emissions).

For these reasons, SUSTEXNET is addressing all actors involved in the textile productive system, including research and technological centres, business services, enterprises, clusters and associations, regional and national public authorities and workers’/consumers’ organisations. In this sense, all three elements of the Triple Helix (Industry, Research and Public Administration) will have an active role in the development of the project, being at the same time active agents of the project and target groups and beneficiaries of its results.
